| History: | Named for Alvah Payne Challis who was one of the first residents in Round Valley in 1873. Challis and his partner, Samuel E. Blackburn, raised cattle on this property at the confluence of Challis Creek and the Salmon River. The partners sold this ranch for $2,200 in September 1878. |
